For Classes
- The best idea is to buy notebooks and other supplies here in Delft. Notebooks are for sale at most grocery stores (Albert Heijn, C1000) and also at the VSSD.
- Books can be bought through the VSSD or VSV. Some classes have readers which can be ordered online through the BlackBoard website. If you have the reader delivered to the faculty instead of your residence, there is no shipping fee. Unfortunately, you can not find all books in Delft, so some will have to be ordered online (ex. Amazon, ebay)

Electronics
Remember that in Europe outlets are for 220 volts, so make sure any electronics you bring will work. You will have to buy an adaptor, because the outlets are a different shape. In Europe the plugs are two small round pegs.
Generally, most electronics work in Europe without a power converter, be sure to check the info label on the power supply to double check, it should say "Input: 110-220 V and 50-60hz" If this is the case all you need is an adapter. If not, don't bring it or buy a converter.
- Computer (mouse, mouse pad, power supply)
- Calculator (Ti-89s are not allowed)
- Cell phone- If you already have a GSM phone (T-Mobile, Cingular/ AT&T, for example), you can simply buy a SIM card here. Otherwise, you can buy a prepaid phone from one of the many phone stores in the center. For example, a T-Mobile prepaid phone can cost about €30, with €.35/min calls and €.23/text. Another cheap prepaid phone provider is Vodafone.

Clothing
- Be aware of the seasons that you will be studying abroad. If you leave in winter, don't forget to pack some spring/summer clothing too. People in Europe tend to dress nicer than students in the U.S. You may find other students wearing shorts, t-shirts/hoodies, and flip flops, but tend to err on the side of wearing slightly nicer clothing (polos, capris, etc.).

Personals
Some things that you are used to in the U.S. can't necessarily be easily found in Europe. You need to either make sure to bring it along or live without it while here in Europe.
- medication - prescribed and some over the counter (e.g. Tylenol, ibuprofen, etc.)
- Deodorant- It's very difficult to find good deodorant in the Netherlands, so you may want to bring your own
- glasses or contacts and solution
- books
- deck of cards
- musical instrument
- pictures of home, family, friends, and ISU
- credit card - If you set up a bank account through the university you might not be able to access it until a few weeks after you arrive in Delft.
