Shopping for Food
The best place to start shopping for food is at a nearby grocery store, such as Albert Heijn or C1000. The stores are somewhat similar to Hy-vee in Iowa. Another good place for shopping are the markets on Thursday and Saturday. There you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, cheese, eggs, fish, meat, and also non food products. The fruits and vegetables tend to be less expensive at the market.

Recipes
Pasta Dishes
1. Spaghetti and red sauce
~~The easiest is to buy a jar of sauce and heat it up.
2. Spaghetti with a zucchini cream sauce
~~Boil water for the spaghetti right away. Wash and cut up the zucchini. Then add it to a large pot where oil has already been heating. Add garlic. Cook until the zucchini is gently brown on both sides. Add enough cream to cover the zucchini. Then add Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to your taste. Serve the sauce over the spaghetti.
Experiment with a variety of different sauces for pasta.
Meat Dishes

1.Mitchell's Fried chicken
ingredients - chicken, flour, garlic, salt, vegetable oil, zip-lock bags
Wash your chicken off in cold water, cut into smaller more manageable pieces if necessary, but not bite sized. Let the chicken soak in cold water and salt, making sure to add plenty of salt. In the zip-lock bag add flour, garlic, and salt and shake until thoroughly combined. Heat oil in a pan (high for a hot plate, medium for a gas stove, and generally a small amount of oil will suffice, we aren't trying to deep fry) and you will know when the oil is hot enough if you take a small amount of flower and toss it into the oil and it sizzles. Before the oil is ready, toss the chicken pieces in the zip-lock bag and shake to coat thoroughly. Gently set the chicken in the oil when the oil is hot enough. they will start to turn a golden color on one side, flip and when the chicken is a light golden brown, remove from the oil, gently shaking off any excess oil. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans and enjoy.

Fish Dishes
Rice Dishes
Rice goes well with most foods. It is easy enough to make and it is easy on your stomach in case you aren't feeling well. For every cup of rice, add two cups of water. If you don't have a measuring cup, just designate something as a cup and use relative measurements.
1.Rice with meat and a vegetable
~~Make some rice. In a separate pan cook some small pieces of meat (bacon works well). After it is almost done add some chopped pieces of onions and a vegetable (for example green beans). Put the rice in a plate and then place the meat/veggie mix over it. Enjoy.
